A former New Jersey Republican leader has been sentenced to four years in state prison for theft from a nursing home resident.

Robert Greco Jr. had reached a plea deal with Cape May County prosecutors that called for him to receive a probationary sentence if he made full restitution to the victim.
But Greco was taken into custody last month when he failed to pay back more than $139,000 to the victim at the East Creek Manor Residential Health Care Facility, and he was sentenced on Friday.
Greco previously served as leader of the Cumberland County Republican Party.
Greco, who pleaded guilty to theft charges, admitted to persuading the man to giving him power of attorney and to using the man’s savings to pay business expenses, AP reports.
