New data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers insights into the long-term care landscape of each state: how various senior populations are using adult day care, assisted living facilities, and more; as well as the number of providers and staffing info for each state.
The report is a supplement to the National Study of Long-Term Care Providers (NSLTCP), released last February.

A few interesting snippets from the report:
- Washington and Oregon take the prize for highest rates of residential care use in the U.S.
- Nursing home rates in the Pacific Northwest, however, were lower than the national average.
- Many Midwestern states — North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska and others — have higher-than-average residential care-use rates.
Texas, Utah, Georgia and South Carolina boast high hospice use-rates for patients 85 years and older.
