Brookdale Nabs Cedric T. Coco for Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer

The country’s largest senior living provider hired Cedric T. Coco this month to take the helm as Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer. From a Brookdale release:

Cedric joins the Company after serving in various human resource roles for Lowe’s Companies, Inc. since 2008, most recently as senior vice president of human resources, where he led the human resources generalists for Lowe’s stores, distribution centers and customer support centers, in addition to leading talent acquisition, employee relations, diversity, and succession planning.

Prior to Lowe’s, Cedric gained nearly two decades of experience in business leadership, human resources, and organization performance at Microsoft Corporation, KLA-Tencor Corporation and General Electric Company, where he held numerous leadership roles in engineering, business development, sales, general management and organizational learning.

“Cedric’s deep experience within the human resources function in companies with a distributed workforce, as well as his mix of business management and retail knowledge, will provide Brookdale with the leadership we need to improve our ability to attract, retain, and develop our associates,” said Andy Smith, Brookdale’s President and Chief Executive Officer.  “I know that Cedric will be a strong voice for our mission-driven culture,” he added.

Healthcare Trust Announces New Board Chairman

Healthcare Trust Inc (HTI) announced this month that Leslie D. Michelson has been named Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. The appointment comes after the previous chairman, Randolph C. Read, stepped down.

From an HTI release:

Mr. Read commented, “With the conclusion of the strategic review process at Healthcare Trust, this is the ideal time for me to pass the baton at HTI as they focus on building a world class healthcare REIT in the medical office building and seniors housing sectors.”

Mr. Michelson commented, “I am delighted to be continuing the progress the Company has made under Randy Read as Chairman. The results of the strategic review process will guide us as we strengthen our portfolio and balance sheet and continue to increase shareholder value.”

Symbria Appoints First COO and Chief Human Resources Officer

Symbria appointed two new hires to newly-created positions this month.

Janet Viane has been promoted to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) position; meanwhile, Debra Bragg has been hired to serve as Chief Human Resources Officer.

From the release:

As COO, Janet will direct the company’s rehab, pharmacy, IT, sales, and marketing divisions and refine the company’s brand and positioning. As CHRO, Debra will oversee HR strategy, leadership and organization development, benefit and compensation planning, and other areas. As CEO, Jill will work to expand the company’s role and visibility in the post-acute care marketplace by building relationships with healthcare system executives, hospital leaders, and influencers as well as serving on the board of the Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition and as a member of the American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine.

Integral Senior Living Taps New Regional Director

Integral Senior Living has hired senior living veteran Roselynn Muzzy to serve as regional vice president of operations, a position in which she’ll oversee the operations of several communities.

Muzzy was previously the vice president of operations for Vintage Senior Living, and has spent 21 years in the senior living industry. She sits on the Education Committee of the California Assisted Living Association (CALA).

Erickson Living Makes Two C-Suite Appointments At CCRCs

Erickson Living this month hired Jerry McDonald to serve as Associate Executive Director and Nursing Home Administrator at Lantern Hill, an Erickson Living retirement community. More info here.

Additionally, the company promoted Denise Altonjy to serve as Associate Executive Director of Cedar Crest. More info here.

Both facilities are part of the portfolio of 19 CCRCs managed by Erickson Living.
